If June is Christmas to the music fiend, September is the art aficionados’ Easter. After a summer of silence – Björks and Bowies for 20 bucks don’t count – the local art scene resurrects with a big bang on the 5th at 9pm with Art Nou’s award ceremony at La Capella. In its 3rd year, and with 16 venues and 20 artists participating from September 5th to 23rd, Art Nou features emerging local talent and includes studio visits (Hangar, la Escocesa), talks and workshops (on artistic and curatorial practice). N2, etHall, ADN, NoguerasBlanchard, Tat Art, Ana Mas, Espronceda – cool peeps and pros are on board. That’s before La Mercè. Right after, from September 28th to October 1st, Barcelona Gallery Weekend, the independent and “autogestionado” Young Gallery Weekend (offering barrio specific tours with artists on location) and international art fair Swab (28.9 – 1.10) invite to openings galore. Prepare for overload.
