The literary month of the year is jam-packed with sonic nuggets so let’s get right into it. First up is Dominique A at Apolo on the 3rd. He considers himself more of a chansonnier than a musician. Camus-level French is desirable. Next up – especially for fans of Kerouac and beat fiends – is the Barcelona Psych Fest at Upload (neo-psychedelia and shoegaze) with Spectrum (UK), Feels (US) and Flamingods (UK).
If you enjoy art-punk as playful and irreverent as a Michael Chabon book, Bodega is your band. I saw them in Sidecar sometime ago and I’ll be back for sure (in Razz3 on April 5th).
If you’re more the Marvel universe type, check out The Picturebooks at Rocksound on the 8th. Bearded guys rocking denim vests with skate ramps in the background. Fun!
For more classical Ulysses-type readers in need of catharsis, I strongly recommend the Swiss industrial-experimental band Young Gods (again at Razz, but this time on the 12th). Meanwhile mystery fans that enjoy dark, intimate and atmospheric music mustn’t miss Tess Parks at Upload on April 17th.
Fanzines geeks gotta go to Sick of It All (again!) on April 23rd (Razz) and Stephen King’s fan base goes Giuda, making their way to Badalona on the 30th to see them in Estraperlo.
I also highly recommend Kokoshca, from Pamplona who play at Almo2bar on April 5th, All Them Witches from Nashville (Razz on the 25th) and death metal band Black Dahlia Murder (Sala Boveda on the 28th). And last but not least, queridxs, the band that ticks all the boxes: Fangoria, mother of dragons and dragon slayer all-in-one, is performing at the Sant Jordi Club on April 27th. Tell the princess.
