Über den Wolken (C/ Valldonzella, 43 | Raval) is somehow reminiscent of the old Barcelona you might love a smidge more than the new one. Julia aus München moved to Barcelona after a year in Caracas (while lovely, it proved to be a bit too intense) and made a nice little home of her business here. Cozy downstairs with her second-hand selections, cute kitchen at the back with a big table for gastro get-togethers, and an altillo for expos, pop-up shops, little festas and the like. A sort of all in one, and one open for all. Stop by frequently as it’s constantly changing.

Domingos (C/ Creu de la Peu, 25 | Raval) is a new animal round these parts. When you have some clothing and you want some cash: Domingos. Camisa con collar a cambio de dólar: Domingos. It’s like a pawn-talones shop. You can take Claudia and Aimee (of next door Grey Street fame) your ropa no tan vieja, leave it with them and pick up cold hard euros once it has sold. The split? 50/50. Muuuch better than a pawn shop. And you can leave other items with them too, like furnishings or decor. The long term plan is to always sell at very low prices, exist for and thanks to the local community, and, in time, to be able to both buy the used stuff outright or, for those that want to deal without the devil, intercambio.

Kilo Roba (C/ Torrent de L´Olla, 66 | Gràcia) is a bit of a black sheep in here seeing as A) it’s a chain store and B) it’s not particularly attractive in any way. The logo is hideous (although terribly clear) and the shop itself is as attractive as racks of clothes can be. But it’s the only place we know of where the clothing is bought and sold by the kilo. Some of it is used, some of it isn’t. Long story short: found a new The North Face jacket, weighed it, €11.50. Boom.
