There may be a few remaining vents to cover and tubes to connect but Ale & Hop, – pronounced locally: alejóp is open for business and the beer flows like wine. Don’t come here to buy room-temperature bottles you then take away to drink in peace at home. None of that. And don’t come here to buy a grinder or an airlock. Tampoco. Come here to pasarlo pipa and beber birra. Owners Alberto and Jazz have plenty of experience in Barcelona, beer, bars and restaurants and have molded this Barcelon-esque tunnel of old stone walls into a watering hole that will, as soon as word gets out (hup! hup!), be so rammed that nearby Pony Bar on a Saturday will seem spacious. Props to the street collected furniture, keg mounted table, and recycled PET keg lamps. And applause for the vegetarian dishes and snacks (yes, they’ve managed to hide a nearly complete kitchen in the space) that come from Alberto’s bio/organic orchard in Espluges. And, who happened to be drinking at alejóp when we were? Mr. and Mrs. La Cervecita.
