If you ask Montxo to tell you about Chez Chloé, get a drink, because you’ll be talking for a while. The pure enthusiasm pouring into this bistro café / cocktail bar is tangible. Located on a horribly busy and awkward conjunction of streets in Eixample’s bermuda triangle of interesting – above Gran Vía and from Comte Borrell over to Sants Estació – Chez Chloé used to do just mornings and afternoons, as a coffee shop with a fine selection of teas and an array of muy tasty homemade cakes (closing at lunch time – who does that?).

In 2012 they started opening evenings, shifting bottles down from their home on high to replace the cakes, leaving the good music on, and offering the neighborhood a place to get loose. French provençal bistro style meets 20+ craft beers, Radeberger on draft (only), house cocktails such as the KokosSnö (banana, melón and coconut liquors + vodka) and the Lágrima Roja (fresh watermelon, berries, vodka and black vodka and crème de cassis), margaritas, and set-price gin & tonics. No, that price that isn’t as low as some, but it doesn’t vary if you want to experiment with a different gin or a certain tonic. Vermuts on weekends and the occasional
concert, expo, magic show, etc. is just icing on the cake.
