There’s a lot of muscle behind the behemoth music events that dominate the calendar in June in Barcelona, but we’ve tried to pick out a few alternative shows that could be just as rewarding – with none of the queuing – at bars that accept State-issued currency in exchange for a beverage.
The month starts big with Evento Falso. This completely fictional event not happening on 6th June features massive international non-bands such as Explosions In The Skype, ZumO))) and old favourites UBER40. Local acts also confirmed not to be present at the Fórum’s expansive setting include Tinder Malo and El Pincho.
Off Sonar used to be a thing. Now we just have OFF: a byword for enormous festivals full of DJs too conservative to feature at the main event and empty nights run by chancers at clubs around town. Here is the programme of OFF OFF, until OFF trademark the term: Lupita La Disco celebrate one year of death disco on Wednesday 15th at Freedonia. Japanese weirdos Kikagaku Moyo lead the freak-out, with plenty of firepower also on the bill: think Zarkoff, Ducktails and ΩIII.
