Palo Alto
C/ Pellaires, 30-38
08019 Barcelona, Poblenou
Least cool in temperature, Palo Alto is a magical world of its own, set in an enclosed manufacturing complex in Poblenou which was spared the pre-Olympic wave of rampant, rapidfire construction. Red brick is wrapped in green vines and purple and white bougainvillea flowers more often than not. Palms and fat-leafed tropical plants provide shade for those that need it. There is also a grassy expanse (túmbate), a mini-orchard/farm, a pond and more. Landscaping design courtesy of Pepicheck Farriol, our new hero. The studios are filled with architectural and design firms, galleries, production studios, multimedia studios and artists. These “residents” share two central spaces for photo shoots, filming, presentations, exhibitions, etc. And these creatives eat together in the Cantina Palo Alto, open to the public, which does a modestly-sized but sabroso menú for 11.90 Euro.
